Usually, when someone sends you an e-mail it is a request for information. Instead of crafting a new message from scratch to send to the originator, you can just reply to the message.

Replying to a message fills in the recipients' e-mail address and the subject, then sends the original message as part of the reply. To accomplish this task, use the r command in interactive mode.

Command Format:

R (this replies to the message sender)

r (this replies to the message sender and all other recipients of the message)

Example:

After you have read a message you are presented with the & prompt:

Message 1:

From BobJ Wed Apr 26 15:23:02 2000

Date: Wed, 26 Apr 15:23:02 -0700

From: BobJ <BobJ@localhost.local>

To: root@localhost.local

Subject: Month End

The month end reports are done.

&

To reply to this message just enter r at the & prompt and type your message:
