D — What's on the Disc

The companion CD-ROM contains all the source code and project files developed by the authors, plus an assortment of evaluation versions of third-party products. The disc is designed to be explored using a browser program. Using the browser, you can view information concerning products and companies, and install programs with a single click of the mouse. To run the Guide to the CD-ROM, here's what to do:

Windows 95 Installation Instructions


NOTE

If you have the AutoPlay feature of Windows 95 enabled, the CD-ROM will install automatically. If you have disabled the AutoPlay feature, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Insert the CD-ROM disc into your CD-ROM drive.

  2. From the Windows 95 desktop, double-click on the My Computer icon.

  3. Double-click on the icon representing your CD-ROM drive.

  4. Double-click on the icon titled setup.exe to run the CD-ROM installation program.

Windows NT Installation Instructions

  1. Insert the CD-ROM disc into your CD-ROM drive.

  2. From File Manager or Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.

  3. Type <drive>\setup and press Enter, where <drive> corresponds to the drive letter of your CD-ROM. For example, if your CD-ROM is drive D:, type D:\SETUP and press Enter.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions in the Guide to the CD-ROM program.
